During this webinar, a panel of construction industry professionals will discuss the methods that their companies are employing to assist in the overall reduction of upfront carbon emissions on construction projects.

The panel, moderated by Simon Squire FAIQS, CQS, will shed light on an area of the construction industry that is undergoing rapid change.

Professionals attending will be inspired to take the lead in calibrating the quantification and measurement of upfront carbon.

Simon Squire, FAIQS, CQS, AIQS Vice President & Chair of Upfront Carbon Committee
Head of Cost Planning - Group Assurance, LendLease (Moderator)

Simon has three decades of global experience as a Cost Advisor. Simon is currently in his fifteenth year at Lendlease as Group Head of Cost Planning. Before joining Lendlease, he worked for over 20 years as a Quantity Surveyor/Owner’s Representative in Australia and North America.

 

 

Dr Monica Hanus-Smith, Low Carbon Materials Lead at Laing O'Rourke

Monica works at an executive level to identify, develop, and implement strategies and technology solutions for the construction industry. Monica is specially dedicated to developing and driving the company’s Scope 3 emissions reduction roadmap.

Throughout her career, Monica has demonstrated high-level strategic and technical expertise in delivering solutions relating to low carbon materials, sustainability, DfMA (Design for Manufacture and Assembly), emerging technologies, digital products and knowledge management.

 

 

Arif Uzay FAIQS, Director at Rider Levett Bucknall

Arif brings over two decades of expertise in quantity surveying, financial management, and project procurement within the construction industry. He has earned a reputation for his meticulous approach to conceptual estimating, precise cost planning, and astute project management.

Arif heads the sustainability initiatives within RLB's Victoria office, and played a pivotal role in securing carbon-neutral certification for the office. He spearheaded the implementation of a comprehensive carbon estimating process, empowering clients to quantify hidden emissions and adopt sustainable practices throughout project lifecycles.

 

 

Darryl Stuckey, Head of Sustainability Transformation – Environment, Lendlease

An environmental scientist, Darryl has 20 years’ experience in sustainability across corporate, consulting, and regulatory settings. In his current role within the Group Sustainability Function, he is responsible for leading Lendlease’s group-wide decarbonisation, climate risk and environment strategy.

During his time at Lendlease, Darryl has been instrumental in developing the businesses in-house Life Cycle Assessment capability. He has been responsible for managing collaboration with project teams and supply-chain partners to deliver Lendlease’s embodied carbon reduction commitment for the Barangaroo South waterfront urban renewal project in Sydney. Most recently, Darryl has led the development of Lendlease’s Scope 3 Emissions Protocol, and Carbon Offset Procurement Strategy.
