Combustible cladding is a highly flammable building and façade product that has been installed on many buildings around the world, including Australia.

In Australia these dangerous building materials have been getting installed since the late 1990s. The industry became aware of its deadly capabilities after the Lacrosse Apartment fire in 2014 and began preventing its installation after this date. However, the definitive cessation of its installment in Australia is unknown.

Join us to explore the extent of the problem, the potential solutions, the cost impact and key hidden risks. We will explore design, procurement and cost with three experienced speakers followed by a Q&A.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Stuart Gillies
Director, WT Partnership

Stuart has over 25 Years of experience in the construction industry in Melbourne, the UK and Singapore.
He is currently involved in the Cladding Safety Victoria cladding replacement programme and has first hand experience from Due Diligence stage through to Construction of the cladding replacement programme.

Kieran Rice
Technical Director, AECOM

Kieran is a Technical Director at Aecom in Melbourne with over 30 years of experience in structural and façade engineering design consultancies in Europe, Asia and Australia. Kieran is interested in exploring new pathways to delivering innovative design through breaking down the boundaries between engineering disciplines. From his background in light-weight structures and free-form geometries, he has recently undertaken research studies investigating the links between Facades/HVAC/ESD and Cost as well as developing workflows to optimize embodied CO2e in structures and facades. Kieran has recently been involved in several combustible cladding replacement projects in a variety of sectors.

Hugh Cooper
Senior Project Manager, Built.

Hugh's experience over ten years working in the industry has seen him focus his skills on new build, refurbishment, fitout and large-scale CBD construction projects. He is responsible for the turn-key delivery of the facade works from shop drawing and engineering through to practical and final completion of the facade works. Hugh leads the Built Procurement Team, which has been established to provide a robust framework and capability that allows our construction a higher level of clarity, access and oversigh into facade procurement than traditional sub-contractor models. Through his collaborative and communicative approach, he works closely with our clients and their stakeholders, liaisin with them to mitigate and resolve critical day-to-day issues as they arise.
