SENIOR QUANTITY SURVEYOR

  • We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Senior QS to join our team.
  • The position is open and available for an immediate start.  
  • Choose your place of work!  Rothwell or Brisbane CBD.

Skills and attributes:

  • Minimum 5-10 years industry experience
  • Degree or equivalent experience in Quantity Surveying
  • Member of the AIQS and/or RICS; or be currently working towards that accreditation
  • Excellent negotiation and client facing skills
  • Excellent written skills
  • Excellent Measurement & Quantification skills in line with ANZSMM
  • A self starter, able to work unsupervised
  • Excellent time management skills as you will need to be able to manage several jobs concurrently
  • An advanced knowledge of the Office 365 suite of products, plus good skills in CostX
  • Willing and able to take ownership and responsibility for each of your jobs
  • A willingness to travel – once the borders open!
  • An ability to lead by example
  • The right to live and work in Australia

The role encompasses:

  • Attending to site inspections and meetings to establish cost management processes and gather information and documentation to enable you to estimate repairs of major and complex building civil and marine losses;
  • Assess constraints to the remediation, repair or rebuilding of premises whilst remaining in partial or full occupation in a broad range of types of property including but not limited to commercial offices, retail, industrial storage, industrial processing, marine structures, civil engineering structures, roads, bridges, dams, pipelines, institutional buildings and hospitals;
  • Review of trade packages for sufficiency with scope of works and benchmark to competitive market values.  Provide an opinion as to the recommended trade contractor.
  • Audit construction claims on a cost managed basis, requiring review of time sheets, material invoices, subcontract invoices and builders preliminaries;
  • Attend meetings with clients and consultant teams to establish processes and monitor progress of works, contributing cost management to the group decisions;
  • Accurately measure and price estimates for the various Insurance heads of claim including value at risk, indemnity value removal of debris, repair values and cost benefit options;
  • Drafting and issue of detailed reports for estimating services, auditing services and cost advisory services;
  • Review consultant reports as instructed by clients providing a quantity surveyors perspective to the methodology and conclusions reached;
  • Maintaining client relationships, working on files from initial appointment to completion of the project;
  • An opportunity exists for anyone qualifying as an expert witness -quantity surveyor, to provide expert witness services in their qualifying field; and
  • Travelling to other parts of Australia to attend meetings and inspect sites.
