The Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors is a professional standards body. Through its leadership, standards and code of ethics, it ensures that practicing Quantity Surveyors are dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of professional excellence.
We currently have an opening for a full-time Corporate Affairs & Policy Manager to join our team based in the CBD. The ideal candidate will be from a construction background but have had in-depth experience with advocacy, policy & compliance functions. The Corporate Affairs & Policy Manager will be responsible for the strategic development and implementation of policy matters, research and professional and technical standards for the quantity surveying and the broader construction cost management professions.
Key deliverables include:
- Research, write and prepare papers, reports, policy papers, and submissions on a broad range of issues relating to the rights and needs of the broader quantity surveying profession
- Responsible for leading volunteers, consultants, industry partners and vendors in the development, implementation and evaluation of professional and technical standards
- Establish networks in, and liaise with, government agencies, and professional and industry associations to identify and act on opportunities for collaboration or engagement on public policy and media issues relevant to AIQS and its members
- Responsible for the achievement of Standards Portfolio mission, goals and financial objectives. Ensure that evaluation systems are in place related to these goals and objectives and provide progress reports to the CEO
Essential criteria:
A demonstrated ability to build and maintain good working relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, preferably in a membership-based environment and including political staff, public servants and industry associations
- Excellent writing, oral and interpersonal communication skills as well as being a great negotiator
- Knowledge of the system of Australian government at federal, state and territory levels and their associated agencies
- Demonstrates strategic thinking skills and ability to develop and execute a strategy
