Upcoming Legislative Amendments in QLD
During this webinar, Tracey Wood, Principal Lawyer, Master Builders Members Legal will discuss the proposed changes (including new offences) to the BIF Act, QBCC Act and Building Act currently before parliament.
The webinar will cover:
- Chapter 2 BIF Act - Statutory Trust Account model that will completely replace the Project Bank Account model;
- Chapter 3 BIF Act – changes to Progress Payments and the adjudication process;
- QBCC Act – changes to licensing obligations, due diligence obligations and notification obligations;
- Building Act – changes to certification requirement and processes.
Tracey will also discuss common problems that we are seeing with the adjudication process and some key court decisions handed down since commencement of Chapter 3 BIF Act in December 2018.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Tracey is an experienced construction lawyer with a professional career spanning more than 25 years. Tracey commenced her career as a structural engineer, working on residential, commercial and industrial projects across Queensland and the Northern Territory, before completing a Bachelor of Laws degree (Honours). Tracey has worked in a number of mid-tier Brisbane firms, founded her own firm as a sole practitioner on the Gold Coast, and is now the Principal Lawyer at Master Builders Queensland’s wholly owned legal firm, Master Builders Members Legal. Outside the demands of this role, Tracey is also an Adjudicator to the Queensland Building and Construction Commission.
Tracey is at the forefront of pertinent and live industry wide issues daily. Her passion to help the industry is evidenced through her unwavering tenacity to be the voice for residential and commercial builders, subcontractors, trade contractors and suppliers, regardless of their size, so as to bring about unbiased legislative reforms that benefit industry businesses as a whole and protect jobs and projects in Queensland.
