The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Steering Group is responsible for the development and implementation of diversity, equity and inclusion policy matters on behalf of Members of AIQS.

A diverse, equitable workplace is one that creates an inclusive environment that accepts each individual's differences, embraces their strengths and provides opportunities for all staff to achieve their full potential. Diversity, equity and inclusion is not limited to gender and is broadened to religious and political beliefs, ethnicity, education, socioeconomic background, sexual orientation and geographic location.

Role of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Steering Group

The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Steering Group will develop and provide advice on enhancing diversity, equity and inclusion across the quantity surveying and cost estimating professions as directed by the Board including:

  • Guidance and toolkits to assist members and their employers understand key elements and challenges around creating a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace
  • White papers on strategies to attract more women and other cultures to the quantity surveying and cost estimating professions
  • Guidelines to support diversity, equity and inclusion in the quantity surveying and cost estimating professions
  • Survey member firms to ascertain current diversity, equity and inclusion understanding, statistics and policies.
  • Establish an “informal mentoring” framework
  • Assist in the development of firm reporting requirements within the diversity, equity and inclusion framework
  • Identify and manage risks associated with the Steering Group
  • Work in consultation and support other national committees on matters of diversity, equity and inclusion.
